What ever happened to simple resumes? A resume used to be a resume – a simple introduction to get a job interview. This is simply not the case anymore in 2010. Simple as that. It appears that in the new millennium what might have been called the "traditional , chronological", that is the fact filled resume that was generally considered to be "the standard" tool , in the toolbox and tool chest for the job seeker – and indeed for job-seeking middle management types are no longer effective. Sadly these seldom even get by the initial screening level and levels. In place of the old tried and true respectable resume standards are not what might be referred to as masters of marketing themselves, or in more simple terms "power resumes". Power resumes can be said to be best and simply described as a document or set of documents that include a variety and combination assembled of such components as – accomplishments, background, successful sales experiences that is so structured that in any other setting might even be called an ad or even a telemarketing or info commercial / infomercial, if done in a video resume format or formats. These attempts at getting past the first gatekeeper and into the employment interview candidates chair and often most successful at their goals. While at least until the set of tactics and procedures are overworked and overdone. A simple fact of life. While it is true that nothing is 100 % and no resume will ever directly get the employment candidate "the job", these "power resumes " sure often do the trick and have ultimately a high and most acceptable success rate and ratio. These resume formats are well written, put together and one might even say "constructed" to take the changes in US industry, with all its foibles and downsizing / outsourcing, as they relate specifically to human resources H.R. departments as well as the mentality and viewpoints into account and specific consideration. One might say that much of life and the business worlds have been reduced to "selling soap". Simple blunt marketing. Where once it could be said that there were 25- 40 applicant to a job, all in all, currently in 2010, the amount could be 1,000. Thus those screening the applicants – the gate keepers or even one or even two steps before the gatekeepers are just plain overwhelmed and overworked. The comedy is that your job or career application might even be screened by an outsourced worker , working for a lot less than a standard American worker, who could be anywhere in the non-industrialized or "third world". It may well be a case of added insult to injury. Hence in this day and age of 2010, any and all job employment applicants simply need all the help that they can get, to gain that ultimate competitive advantage. Thus if you need professional resume preparation to give you that edge over everyone else's carbon copy / cookie cutter resume template – then that is the ticket. In the end, having a resume professionally done by a pro, may cost you out of your wallet and pocket book – however it's an investment that you may gladly have to make for good finished results.
